About the Position
Assists in the construction, maintenance, and upkeep of all structures connected with Uchee Pines Institute, on campus in Seale, AL, and off campus in Columbus, GA. Due to the nature of our institution, the maintenance department has a wide range of action and responsibilities. Duties include electrical, plumbing, mechanical, refrigeration, heating & cooling, and carpentry tasks, as well as building construction and structural repairs. The goal for the maintenance department is to provide services that are not only reactive to issues as they arise, but also to be preventive, ensuring that maintenance issues are planned for before they arise.
What you will be doing
- Perform routine maintenance: fixing structural damage, e.g. window, door or wall repair
- Repair broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and maintain full use of water fixtures
- Work on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs
- Maintain HVAC equipment to keep climate control functioning properly in all buildings and homes
- Carpentry work on doors, windows, and trim
- Apply preventative measures to reduce the risk of future problems (such as using sealant on a roof, etc.)
- Diagnose and fix potential safety hazards in order to avoid injuries
- Paint/re-paint buildings and homes as needed
- Assist in any duty the Maintenance Supervisor assigns
