Designer Diets

In all these routines, the vegan diet is most favorable for the disease.

ANGINA: A vegan diet with no animal protein; no free fats of any kind (margarine, mayonnaise, fried foods, cooking fats, salad oils, and perhaps even peanut butter in severe cases).

ANTIBIOTIC FUNCTIONS: Licorice root constituents have a natural antibiotic activity against Streptococcus mutans, the bacterium causing dental cavities. Allicin in raw garlic is unstable, but it has antimicrobial activity. Steamed garlic produces disulfides and trisulfides which inhibit prostaglandin E-2.

Bee propolis also anti-amebic, anti-inflammatory, and reduces fevers (over 30 biologically active components make a 15-30% extract with grain alcohol); grapefruit seed extract (18 or more drops per day put in your drinking water for the day).

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITY (for lupus, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, peptic ulcers, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's, etc.): cabbage juice, olives, flaxseed and flaxseed oil (1-3 teaspoons, 1-3 times daily), celery (3 stalks pureed once or twice a day), nightshade free for 3 months trial (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, peppers, pimento, paprika), and gluten grains omitted (wheat, rye, barley, oats). Pineapple suppresses inflammation; so do apples and hawthorn berry tea.

CATARACTS: Eating vegetables, especially spinach, may slow or stop progression of cataracts. The galactose in milk is known to promote cataracts in both animals and humans. Pineapple promotes the production of certain enzymes that might be helpful.

CYSTITIS (interstitial, allergic, infectious): Certain biogenic amines and metabolites of acidic foods cause pelvic pain and increased urinary frequency. The foods to be avoided until all symptoms have subsided are as follows:

FOODS TO BE AVOIDED

ACID FOODS:

All alcoholic beverages
Apple juice, red and green apples
Apricots
Cantaloupes
Carbonated drinks
Chilies and spicy foods
Citrus fruits (lemon, lime, orange, etc.)
Coffee, tea, colas, chocolate
Cranberries
Grapes
Guava
Lemon juice
Nectarines
Peaches
Pineapple
Plums
Strawberries
Tomatoes
Vinegar

FOODS HIGH IN TYROSINE, TYRAMINE, TRYPTOPHAN, ASPARTATE, AND PHENYLALANINE:
Avocados
Bananas
Beer
Brewer's yeast
Champagne
Cheeses
Chicken livers
Corned beef
Cranberries
Dairy products
Fava beans
Figs
Lima beans
Mayonnaise
Meat
Nutrasweet (aspartame)
Nuts
Onions
Pineapple
Prunes
Raisins
Rye bread
Saccharine
Vitamins buffered with aspartate

DETOXIFICATION: Phenolic from garlic stimulates production and activity of glutathione which detoxifies foreign materials in the body. Flavonoids in citrus also detoxify.

DIABETIC NEUROPATHY: Emphasize in the diet all foods high in myoinositol - peanuts, cantaloupes, grapefruit, whole grains, beans, and all citrus. A totally vegan diet. Use no free fats - margarine, butter, mayonnaise, fried foods, cooking fats, salad oils, and all nut butters.

GOUT: All foods high in purines result in uric acid as a metabolic product. Uric acid deposits cause gout. Purines are high in most animal products, beans, yeast, and asparagus.

HEART DISEASE & HYPERTENSION: Flaxseed contains Omega-3 fatty acids which protect the heart, 3 stalks of celery pureed once or twice a day, a salt-free diet, a high magnesium diet-wheat, oats, rye, rice, barley, corn, peanuts, carob, greens, beets, and squash.

MACULAR DEGENERATION: Eat generously of blueberries and drink bilberry tea daily as there is a factor in these berries slowing the progress of macular degeneration. One doctor from Idaho reported an improvement in macular degeneration from four months of the pine extract Pycnogenol. Do not take aspirin even in small quantities, as it damages the macula.

OVARIAN CANCER: Leave off all dairy products, especially yogurt, cream cheese, cottage cheese, and buttermilk, as the galactose causes injury to the ova and increases risk of getting cancer of the ovary. Avoid Tamoxifen as it stimulates cancer.

STOMACH AIDS TO HELP DIGESTION: Avoid dairy products; eat olives (4 to 20 with each meal); use "bitters" - aloe, angelica, bayberry root bark, and sparingly of senna.

WARTS: (Skin, Vocal Cords, Genital) 4-6 ounces of Savoy cabbage juice daily. If you can find indole-3-carbinol in a health food store, add a teaspoon to any kind of juice two to three times daily instead of the cabbage juice.
