Luis Sousa was a former Systems Administrator for a Canadian pharmaceutical company. In 2009, after 10 years working in the pharmaceutical industry, Luis came to Uchee Pines Institute to be trained in medical missionary work. He completed the Lifestyle Educator and Lifestyle Counselor programs in 2009-2010. While at Uchee Pines he met and married the love of his life, Nikki. He eventually became the Lifestyle Counselor Supervisor and the Lifestyle Counselor Course Director. Currently, he lives with his dear wife and daughter at Uchee Pines Institute.
Luis Sousa, along with his team, will be redefining the education programs at Uchee Pines, bringing major changes to the structure and content of the programs, while at the same time maintaining the fundamental principles of medical missionary education. Over the next year, the team will be networking, planning, implementing, and developing our new MASTERS Program (MASTER stands for Medical Missionary, Agriculture, Self-Supporting, True Education, Reformation and Spiritual Revival), which we plan to start in July, 2017.
Just as a sneak peek into the future, we are going to incorporate practical, hands-on trades training along with our outstanding medical missionary and Bible training. We want our students to not only learn how to be a medical missionary, but also how to be a tent maker so they can support themselves, or their mission outpost, wherever they go. The programs will also be reformatted so that students will not be burdened with multiple classes at one time, but can spend more time focusing on one important topic at a time. Our students will be even more well-rounded and more well-trained than previously.
We will also be adding several advanced courses to our MASTER’s Program, including the Lifestyle Practitioner Course, which will train non-healthcare professionals to be able to function as the head of a natural/lifestyle care team, utilizing natural remedies and lifestyle interventions in the case of disease and prevention.
We are also preparing for the Healthcare Professional Internship, which will train existing healthcare professionals (MD, DO, NP, PA) in hydrotherapy, herbs, massage, and lifestyle interventions, so that they can start their own lifestyle center or integrate in the care team of an existing center.
Finally, we are preparing for the Health Evangelist Course, which will take students who have completed the Lifestyle Educator and Lifestyle Counselor Courses and will give them a thorough education and experience in evangelism, Bible, and literature evangelism work, so that we can have evangelists who are well trained as medical missionaries and well trained as evangelists. These precious souls will be the leaders of teams taking the cities by storm through medical missionary and gospel work.
We are excited about what the Lord is doing, and we would love for you to be a part of the process. Luis Sousa has a heart of compassion and love for his students, and there is no question in any of his student’s minds that he is interested in their success and wellbeing. Come be a part of our growing and dynamic family of missionaries.
